WOW....What a week.

Well, my first trip back to work was definitely that.....a trip. I drove from Indianapolis to Grand Rivers, KY last Wednesday. It was about a five hour drive, but I convinced my surgeon that I really needed to go back to work, and since I could drive it was do-able. He's not ready for me to fly yet, as he's concerned about all of the luggage. BUT - we met in the middle and he allowed me to drive, because I could stop and get out if I needed to stretch or something. Turns out, it felt good to just get out. I do love being at home, but I also love to drive....

Just a little background on what you're about to see. I was VERY excited to go to Grand Rivers, KY for my first trip back. Small town people, country-folk...I get along great with those people. Let's just say it was nothing like I expected. That's all I'm going to say. The most amazing food in the world is right there in a that teeny little town though. Everything is excellent. And the only thing they have is a restaurant called Patti's. OMG. Here's what their famous pork chop dinner looks like....I had three of them in seven days.

And don't forget the flower pot bread. That's right....and the strawberry butter. Don't worry, Dad. I'm bringing you a jar home.

Oh! And the fun things outside the restaurant....

NEXT... If you drive to the next exit on Interstate 24, that's the one for Calvert City, and drive about five miles north you will find a tiny town called Possum Trot. Yes, that's right....Possum Trot. And here are the pictures to prove it.

And they even have a fire department....

Honestly - Possum Trot had one of the best Mexican restaurants I had ever been to. By the fourth time I went there, they knew me by name, new what I liked to order, what I liked on the TV and what booth I wanted so that I could have a plug-in for my laptop. Seriously - most amazing food. It's called Los Tres Amigos, in case you ever end up there.

One of the coolest things though, was that Tori, someone I graduated high school with and lived with in college lives with her boyfriend about an hour and a half away. They came and met me for a late lunch at Patti's on the weekend. While we were talking about Possum Trot (which I made sure I gave them a tour of), a server at the restaurant stopped by our table to tell us that Kentucky also has a town called Monkey's Eyebrow. Of course, we were instantly interested and declared that we would drive there after our late lunch. It was the best/worst road trip ever. I swear we drove into the 7th circle (or however many circles there are) of Hell. I typed "Monkey Eyebrow, KY" into the GPS on my phone and off we went!! We were so excited! We couldn't stand the anticipation! Once we reached the destination, this is all we could find!!

YYYYYYEAH. Not only did it start pouring down rain (without even seeming like it would rain all afternoon), but we drove on Monkey Eyebrow road for what I swear was 20 minutes, and then we ended up on a different road at a "T" with Monkey Eyebrow Road. We had even stopped and asked for directions. Seriously - it was time to get out of there, because we were afraid we never would.

Needless to say, when I arrived in Clarksville, TN tonight (for my next work trip, just an hour away from Possum Trot), I went to the nearest bar and had a vodka and cranberry cocktail. And I don't drink........ Welcome back to work!!

I am (sort of) joking, all in good fun.

Good news is that I feel a LOT stronger than I did three weeks ago. I am coming back slowly, but surely. The first two days in Kentucky, I was really sore. I think I was literally out of shape, and not used to moving all day. After those two days I just concentrated on everything my Physical Therapist told me, and now I only have a tiny ache all day and some pain in the mornings. I'll take that. It's much harder to change one's eating habits for the better when you have a shcedule like mine, or lack there of. For instance, I had a banana for lunch this morning, a drink for an appetizer and two tacos for dinner at 11pm. It's going to be tough, but the first step is recognizing there's a problem, right?! Baby steps, perhaps, are better than thinking it was all going to come together at once.

Until next time, blogger buddies. Thanks for stopping by!
