Inner turmoil...

For those of you that know me, or are around me for awhile, you realize after a period of time that I have these "internal combustion" issues. I just want to let you know - I'm trying to work through it!!

Other than that, I wanted to let the readers know what the past couple of days have been like (and I just need to "talk" about it probably...) West Virginia was interesting for several reasons. 1.) I regretted taking three weeks off for the holiday...too much time to realize how much I actually do like being home, and how much I really enjoyed spending time with my family. 2.) I really AM sick all the time...I just thought that's what fat people do - they get sick and their tired all the time. Well, that may be the case, but traveling all the time doesn't help...it's constant, not just a once a month thing. 3.) It's cold in West Virginia. For some reason, I didn't pack a coat - which means that I was thinking it was going to be warm. That was a weird realization I didn't particularly need. 4.) I really don't have to smoke every day. It helped that I was staying at the National Conservation Training Center, and I felt like I was hurting the environment...so I only smoked late at night (like 4am) when I was waiting on someone to finish a task I'd given them. 5.) I really might be depressed, and I should probably check myself a little and actually do some emotional homework, before it gets worse than it is.

I left West Virginia on Saturday at around noon (well, that's when I got in the car to drive 2 hours to Dulles). I walked into my apartment at about 10:30 on Saturday night, and left my apartment for NYC on Sunday at 5:30am. I flew through Chicago (which is such a waste of time, if you ask me...but I don't make up the flight rules or whatever), but the trip didn't take long - I got into LaGuardia at around noon. I jumped in a cab, debated with the cab driver about where this hotel is (like I friggin' knew) ...facebooked on my phone a little...watched the Brooklyn Bridge as we drove by thinking, "why is that so famous?" I've seen it on all four trips I've taken to NYC and I still don't get it....there's probably some history there, huh?! So - I get out of the cab, argue with the cabbie about the fact that I need to pay him with American Express and NOT cash and start along my way to walk about a 1/2 block to this construction site, that IS the hotel where I'm going to be staying/working for a week. There was no way in. I made some phone calls and about 45 minutes after being dropped off - got back into a cab on my way back to LaGuardia.... I wasn't supposed to leave Sunday morning, the hotel isn't opening until Thursday. Awesome. "Are you friggin' kidding me?" I thought to myself. So - by 1:15, I was back at LaGuardia checking in. Had some trouble at the kiosk for US Airways, argued with an 18 year old agent that was apparently having a bad day and didn't realize that I work in the same industry and I GET THE FACT THAT YOU HATE OUR JOB, but that, put very simply, is not my problem!! "Does she really think that telling me that her boss was wrong about scheduling her today is going to help me feel sorry for the fact that she doesn't know how to do her job?" I thought as I considered my options. I finally just quit arguing, accepted the fact that no solution would ever be reached with her, made it through security and sat at my gate for four hours hating the fact that I couldn't find some sort of positivity in all of it. That's my M.O. - there's always something positive... All day I was thinking negatively and all it did was bring negative experiences my way. "What the hell is wrong with me?", I would ask myself. I never reached a good answer...

Time to board the plane in NYC, going back home..."like there is anything really waiting there for me", I would say to myself. I don't know if you folks have noticed, but most airlines are charging for the first checked bag now. For someone like me that flies for free, we don't really think about the prices and costs of material things. But, we do notice that everyone and their brother carries-on EVERYTHING possible. Let this be a lesson for you - if you're the last 15 people to get on that aircraft - try to condense. You will have the hardest time finding a space for your carry on luggage. Sorry - I digress. I just jumped into line, because they boarded the plane rear first and I was in aisle 3. Yeah right. So - I felt bad about that during the entire flight....I usually follow the rules. BUT - this was one thing I knew I could control... "If I jump ahead in line, then my bag won't be at row 32, while I'm in row 3." I quickly got over it after reading that Edward was keeping a secret away from Bella in the 3rd book of the Twilight series.

I actually saw this plane pull in during Pittsburgh's game...

I landed in Reagan, and only had a lay over of probably an hour...but it took forever to find the gate, because the flight information was not on any terminal. So - the majority of the people flying from LaGuardia were connecting onto Indianapolis....we ALL had to stop and ask for directions. Turns out - we had to take a little shuttle-thingy across the tarmack...very shady. Good news is that I actually sat by a Senator on the way home. I didn't actually have a conversation with him, but he seemed fairly nice. I felt bad for him though - he was sitting next to a pretty angry big chick, who's hair was enormous and she smelled pretty rank due to the past 16 hours of travel. Poor fella.

I have sat around and whined most of the past few days. My poor roommate. I went to lunch with two very good friends of mine, two that I haven't seen in ages, two that I used to work with and depend on. I can't tell you what it was - but I immediately felt better. It's like a drug. That evening I went over to a wonderful friend's house and celebrated some good news in her life....again, I was hooked.

I was scheduled to leave for NYC again on Wednesday morning. I found out at 3pm on Tuesday afternoon that I would not be going to NYC, and that all flights are cancelled until further notice. Wow - glad I didn't get on that plane again! That would've been truly hilarious!

When I come home, since I'm only home for a couple days at a time, I usually get rental cars. Ends up being cheaper than my monthly bill for a car payment anyway...usually. Well - when I plan on having a rental car for two days, then the date goes to "indefinite"...that sucks. I usually can't get a rental car for that entire time - it costs far too much.

At my friends house the other night - she asked, "doesn't it cost a lot to keep the rental car, now that you don't know when you're leaving?" I looked at her with glazed-over eyes....

"I hadn't even thought about it," I replied. "I was having too much fun."
