I'm Moving On...

So - I actually did it. I accepted a job in the corporate office with my company. I'll be moving to Columbia, Maryland soon to start working in the office. I'll be working in the Global Technical Services department. All of my counterparts think I'm absolutely crazy, but 8-5, M-F sounds pretty darn great! Especially since my last trip to NYC was rather painful, and left me worried about my back a lot. Seems that traveling by car is much more comfortable. But, I have a job to do...and will have to suck it up until the middle of April.

I don't get stressed out very much in my life, but this is one of those times. Unfortunately, after the decision to go into the office, I had to make a whole bunch of other life-changing decisions.

Here are my plans for the next few months:
April 1-7, NYC
April 18, fly to BWI to begin work in corporate office on 4/19
May 7, fly to IND to meet up with my friend Amanda for vacation
May 8-15(overnight flight back), VEGAS!
May 16, pack up UHAUL and drive to Maryland with some buddies from high school that offered to help me out (Thank goodness, because I was going to have to drive the UHAUL with my Jeep on a trailer behind it all by myself...not my idea of a safe situation!)

That may not sound like a lot, but if you take a minute and think about how much money all of that costs, it's a little overwhelming for someone who wasn't prepared. Also - I have from April 18-May 7 to find a place, sign a lease and get the key. I'm really hoping everything works out. It's SO expensive to live there, but the only way to find out if I can do it is to try it!

I know this is the right thing to do, and I knew I would regret NOT taking the position. I'm going to miss Indiana so much. It is one of my favorite places in the world. But, I'm excited to be given a chance to start over. Only time will tell if I made the right decision or not.

:)

It was interesting - my last trip to NYC. It was my first trip back from being gone for so long. And, it was a little bittersweet, because it is also close to the last trip I'll take for work. There were several of us working in New York at the same time, so I got to see my friend Jeff and hang out with some others too! THE COOLEST THING EVER though, was who I met at an Irish Pub. I don't have any clue where we even were....Broadway and 53rd, maybe??? Anyway - I was with a group of people, playing darts and I had a Ball State sweatshirt on (the one I always wear....I wear nothing else, actually, let's be honest.) This really tall guy came up to me and asked me if I went to Ball State. I said, "No, but I grew up around there". He replied by saying, "OMIGOD - I went there!" HAHAHA. Awesome. Robyn and Daniel were from Anderson and I left my little group of buddies to hang out with them for a little while. We hung out at the bar and talked for a long time! It was so cool to meet someone from "home". I wish I would've thought to take a picture with them. If I remember correctly, I told them to check this blog, because I knew I'd write about them. If you guys are reading - so sorry it took me so long!! Hope you had a great trip and arrived safely at home.

Here are some good pictures from that NYC visit...it was rainy and nasty, but we had fun.

  1. Lindy! The office! Yikes. Well I SO know what you mean about M-F 8-5 being a great idea. It is nice to be able to be settled and have a schedule. SO NICE. I hope it's the right thing for you and that your body responds to this change well! Best of luck on finding a place and try to have fun on vacation, don't be worrying about all the crap you have to do!!! Best wishes darling!
